Re: 107.9 FM audience vs. Advertisers ?!
Can some one crack this one for me...
Why was 107.9 "Energy 108" ( the stand alone station)...
catering to Toronto based ad's..(yes, some clubs are in
downtown toronto) but it wasn't limited to nightclubs..
It was resturants, and car dealerships to name a few.
Even the many forms of "energyradio.107-9fM" or,
"Energy@CING_FM" having other stations along that 'network'
still directed their efforts to Toronto.
I know the motivation,
$$$$$$$$$$$$$ that is easy...soo, why does 107.9
cut off the toronto advertisers ???
107.9fm (y108)will occassionaly embrace a 'regional/national'
(the cne)for _"X"_ample (haha) but..that is about it.
so, i ask "why" 108? is doing this ?
(haha) - but seriously, what is the reason to only land
advertisers in/around hamiliton.. ????
what inspired this..I was listening to alan cross, and
the on-going...and commercial breaks comes up..it's a
no-brainer, why the ty-cats, gets the air over the argo's..
(cuz, no body blows like the argo's

j-k..its the ty-cats
station..that is a 'gimme' (Same w/ 'ehr') That guy throws
his cash around all of southern ontario : )
..but the entire hour on 107.9 and after the show was the
same pattern:
Steele-town-based shops/business/resturants, etc..etc..
It's COOOL to be that Local, and appear to be that excited
about the station that hosts your licensce.
As the post suggests, Are all the listeners in Hamilton????
I am willing to bet there are SOME listeners to the north-
and south(niagara/buffalo).. but I just can't seem to get
this - -
why doesn't [107.9] go after the serious cash that,
Toronto, arguably(?sp) the #1 city in Canada, capital of Ontario has to offer.
OR, try to tap the fort erie tourist 'traps'(strip clubs..that
is the demo!! right there : ) or the fort erie casino,
pitch them something...
I dont even think I heard a buffalo bills commercial, to
date, on what is known as y108!! that is crazy !? Going after
buffalo, and toronto --well, it worked, for the short term,
for energy 108..
well, may be not, since that building now is a day care.
