107.9 - Getting "Hot"?

Radio One isn't in acquistion mode right now. They're not a player for 106.9.

Not so quick... they could be in "trade" mode ;D giving up an out of market AM or two.

Wild guesses:

106.9 to CBS or Merlin
107.9 sold to the loser for 106.9
Radio One hip hop becomes 100.3 HD-2 translator simulcast on 97.1 or 96.9 religious translator

or

Radio One trades, say, 97.5 in Greensboro and 1090 in Boston for 106.9; sells 107.9 to Merlin or CBS

It could take awhile for a sale to go through, if it happens at all, but a switch to "Hot 107.9" would make sense. They could plug in Rickey Smiley in wakeups, then have other R1 jocks from different markets track the rest of the day. It would be a low overhead solution until they decide whether or not to sell/swap the signal. If R1 chooses to hang on to it down the road, they can always localize it later...

Radio One just sold it's 2 Charlotte, NC stations to Davis Broadcasting.

And the fun begins :D :D :D Sometimes people have to stop being so bias and opening up their eyes. Yes when there is a will someone or some company will find a way! :D

All this CBS talk about getting 106.9 and what not when CBS is maxed out in Philly, yeah OOOO K!

The thing is a sale takes time. It isn't like radio one can goto family radio with an offer, and it be complete that same day like buying a car. There isn't anyway 106.9 could be owned & operated by radio one by this weekend as you stated.

A sale may take time, but an LMA doesn't. Whichever company buys 106.9 will most likely have an LMA clause in the contract letting them take control of the station immediately once it's signed, pending FCC approval.

Wow radi0o one actually going thru the effort (and from the looks of it cost) of stunting? They usually just change format at midnight with a few moments of dead air between the final & first song.

but they also did the same thing in atlanta when they brought 107.9 they stunted as 107.9 the end a modern rock format
before becoming hot 107.9 lol

It's gonna be sad later today (or whenever 107.9 finally switches to the "Hot" format) when Radio One has to put the @MikeVickRadio Twitter account to sleep. :-X
