107.9 PFM

How far does WPFM-FM 107.9 singal goes out b/c in some areas in Tallahassee I am picking up WPFM out of Panama City... When I go to Crawfordville thier singal getting stronger if i am in the singal range... Even 94.5 The FOX and 92.5 WPAP can reach to Tallahassee...

You've already answered your own question.. On good days it reaches Tallahassee, on normal days you can listen to WPFM just west of town. As for the rest of WPFM's coverage area, they reach Dothan and Bainbridge to the north, Apalachicola to the south, and Destin to the West

Question is, would you really want to get 107.9 all the way in Tallahasse? Seems to me all they are is a photocopy of Island 106, with the exception that most of their jocks are either satellite or voicetracked.

Island 106 doesnt have a good strong singal like 107.9 has... 107.9 is 100,000 watts or so Island 106 has 50,000

Not only does 107.9 have more power, their antenna is at 800 feet. Island 10sux antenna is at about 400 feet. 107.9's tower is inland 25 miles so half of its coverage isn't feeding the fish in the Gulf like Island 10sux antenna. Island is a "local" signal. 107.9 is a "regional" signal.

Better enjoy PFM while you still can.

A new construction permit has been granted for WFSD-LP on 107.9,
which will be owned and operated by the Talla. First Seventh-Day Adventist Church on Capital Circle, near the federal prison. I believe their tower will be located on the church property.

The SDA and the city of Tallahassee had both attempted to obtain this LPFM for
several years.

I'm not involved with this station, but thought I'd give you a head's up.

My understanding is that it will be on the air by August.<P ID="signature">______________

Not a fan of Styles Media eh?

Is PFM finally squared away on the 7 tower?

107.9 tower is on the highway 20 and 231 about 25 miles north of Panama City.

Yes...the WJHG TV channel > 7 < tower.

Channel 7 was doing work on the tower and PFM could not
use it for awhile. Just wondered if the work was finished.

That's going to be one beat up signal a lot of days between WPFM and WWRQ, the 107.9 up in Valdosta. In addition, when I lived in Tallahassee, WSRZ from Sarasota was a frequent visitor when the Gulf tropo was active.

I assume they are back up on the tower at full power. Ch7 was installing their HDTV antenna and PFM had to operate from the "Jammin'92.5" site (aka OO studios) for several weeks....they had no choice. hmmmm HOMEYD...only certain people know what that means (ABRXXX) .I think I know who you are....I was talking to you on the phone this afternoon I think;)

Tallahassee has too many christian and low power stations and this is another LPFM on 107.9 here in Tallahassee?? Why is Tallahassee getting so many christian stations That could mess up WPFM singal. What will WFSD-LP will be??

Based on the information I've read so far, it looks like the new WFSD-LP will be Christian, too.

Also, these are the radio stations in Tallahassee that have some form of Christian/religious format.

WAYT-88.1 (WAY-FM)
WKVH-91.9 (K-LOVE)
W252BN-98.3(Translator for WAFT Valdosta, Ga.)
WFRF-105.7 (Faith Radio--also on 1070 AM)
WSTT-730 (Urban Gospel--licensed to Thomasville, Ga.)
WCVC-1330

All I know is, the Seventh-Day Adventist Church is the licensee and will be
programming it. They're getting it because the FCC has already granted them the permit to build it, and I know who the engineer is that they've chosen to build it, and he is good.

I mentioned it because, yes, there's a good chance that it will indeed mess up WPFM's signal. Then again, Louis, if you're in Crawfordville. maybe you'll be far enough away that you won't even pick up WFSD-LP. Like the one at Wakulla Station, that doesn't reach to Tallahassee..it's hard to say in advance.

I pretty much listen exclusively to internet radio now because, I agree with you, the format choices just don't appeal much to me..and I've been in the radio business for 20-plus years!

Correct, radionut. Plus, to clarify:

> WCVC-1330 is Catholic programming now
WTAL-1440 plays Rejoice gospel 6 pm to 8 am the next day, then brokered preachers til 2, running O'Reilly and Hannity in the afternoons before going back to Rejoice gospel network again. A local preacher is the primary owner now and it has moved away from News/Talk

WTAL-AM is 1450 not 1440.

You maybe right WSFD-LP singal may stay north of town as I live down south of tallahassee to get WPFM from Panama City it may not hurt it just one bit but it will be okay I know WPFM singal is very strong...
We also forget WAFT 101.1FM to the list of Tallahassee. Some areas in town pick up WAFT-FM 101.1 if u are on the eastside of town... and 91.1 St.Marks Florida is another christain talk/music of CSN Network...
