107.9 Sacramento

How about a Jack or Dave FM Variety Hits. Now that's a hole that could be filled. 93.7 did it once before. A lot of stations with that format are run jockless, a bigger profit margin for Iheart, even if the ratings are so- so.

It would cannibalize The River
They would have to do it with mostly pop hits (similar to the current KITS playlist) to avoid hurting The River. The rock audience is very well covered in Sac, so another possibility could be Rhythmic AC to flank with V101.1. Something similar to KBLX or even KTWV.

Wow...KITS isn't doing too well right now. iHeart isn't big on these Jack/Dave formats. iHeart prefers to VT from other markets.

The upside for CHR is it gives them a signal for Jubal and Seacrest.

KITS, I assume is still a work in progress. The playlist has problems, I saw B.J. Thomas followed by AC/DC. The ratings won't improve until they get the music focused. I question the music research done over there. Probably still testing songs or genres out...I hope.

Totally Random Radio is what the website says. Home of the Train Wreck is more accurate. The playlist is just a really bad jukebox. Billy Joel followed by Incubus? Whatever "research" they used was a waste of money...

At least they came up with the "perfect" slogan! 😁

Library songs are not tested bit by bit. The whole library is tested at one time so that things like cluster analysis can be done.

What should be tested regularly at a station that plays current songs are the currents and some of the recurrents. Generally, a cycle time will be every several weeks.

A "good" library test is in the $20,000 to $35,000* price range, so today few stations test more than twice a year.

And a music test does not tell you which songs can be played back to back and which need separation. That is the job of the PD in Selector or Music Master.

* Even more if the library is over a 500 to 600 song count.

"Research" does not tell you how to play the songs. It tells you which songs are better liked than others: The great, the good, the bad and the ugly.

There are analysis tools that can be used on good research to determine "fit" of songs; we often find songs people like but which they do not expect or want to hear on your station.

That’s what I said. Thats the location of the former KDND and KXJZ. KDND was the former station on the allotment.

You stated that KBEB is there, but that’s on a tower about a mile or two away.

Bring back Classic Hits K108 FM! No pun intended lol lol....
BTW, If The Bull moves to 107.9 what then will go on 93.7 HD-2, & 107.1?????? NOT to mention 107.9 HD-2?

Iheart has the "True Oldies" format that's in a number of their markets. That would be great for an HD2 and translator. It's mostly 60's and 70's. Sort of like the old K108 which I remember played music from those two decades.
