107.9 Sacramento

The younger demo fascination is with the 90s, not the 80s. So radio stations that program 90s music are the most likely to get good numbers with 18-34s.
The same thing is happening on country radio. Stations can play Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Shania Twain and find receptive ears on listeners who weren't even born when those performers had most or all of their radio hits. It's even crept into the production of many songs, with crisp acoustic guitars, dobro and steel prominent in the arrangements again, just as they were on so many hits during the '90s boom years.

Brooks & Dunn will be touring again this summer, and there'll be plenty of 18-34s in the crowd, I'll bet. Kix Brooks will be 67 years old, Ronnie Dunn 69. And Darius Rucker will be touring with them -- he's 55, and his pop work with Hootie & the Blowfish was as '90s as you can get.

Country concerts most definitely bring in younger crowds. Yes there is plenty of 55+ at these shows, but a lot of 20 & 30’s. And yes spending lots of money. These demos probably don’t translate directly with radio advertising. I would guess KNCI’s target is 25-54, leaning more toward women.

107.1 The Bull suddenly stopped publishing the corporate Facebook posts on April 3. Why? Were those posts redirected to a new page not yet published for 107.9? Does it suggest something else? It's very odd to just stop posting automated content to a page like that. It might also mean nothing.
Could be nothing. Note the current page is the old "92.5 The Bull", which was renamed to 107.1 the Bull, after the Breeze announcement in 2018.

KSTE doesnt have an FM signal, right?

Move 107.1 over to simulcast KSTE

Make 107.9 The Bull
You little devil you! lol. If iheart were smart, they could buy 890 and it's impressive 104.7 translator to simulcast with the Bull. 107.1 and 104.7 together with 890 would fall under their ownership cap. They will never beat KNCI, so why not just clear Bobby Bones and be an annoyance for them. That gives iHeart more stations to sell in combo.

Look how iheart's Modesto country station, KOSO get's creamed by KATM. Sure it's a Class A, but the signal only needs to cover Modesto and Turlock to compete with Cat Country in Modesto.

KATM is also much more enjoyable to listen to. KOSO sounds pretty bad.

92.5 The Bull in Sac was not very good either. It was safe, but it was not enjoyable. And the morning show does not match the sensibilities of Sacramento. Bobby Bones is a very talented guy with a good show but that show could never win in Sacramento.

If they do country on 107.9, the network approach should be avoided or they should let local programmers make it sound like Sacramento. 92.5 The Bull was simply boring and had no vibe.

hahahahahahahaha

I heart wouldnt let that happen

The real question---they're doing the whole "May the Fourth be with you" thing today. Do they stunt for Cinco de Mayo or do they launch on Thursday?

It seems to be a fairly soft launch. Nothing at the KSTE website or social sites. So the simulcast may be shortlived.

Not at all like when KJR-AM launched its simulcast in Seattle.

Audio sounds terrific, very crisp and clean. Exactly how brand new air chain should sound. Very cool soft launch / stunting also (and I’m not even a Star Wars guy). The signal seems on-par with 90.9 so they are seemingly putting out full 50kw power.
