1070 Tallahassee for Sale?

Several weeks ago the owner emailed me saying he was going to put it on the market.

Unlike most of the other local AMs, this one is nice, although the tower site is not included in the sale and would have to be leased. He's put quite a bit of money into it and the tower is fairly new.
While I've never worked for Scott, we know each other and he has always seemed to be a gentleman and a man of integrity.

1070 has been running Christian teaching/inspo music since October of 1997.

As a former OM/air personality/salesman in this market, I wish I had the $ to buy it. Not sure I would be able to pull it off right now, though.

So what will 105.7 WFRF-FM will do? I know Faith Radio have 105.7 and 90.1 FM. Alan I know ur said ESPN Radio wont happening in Tallahassee nit I give it another chance. I like AM 1270 WNLS b/c of Florida State but I cant stand FOX Sports Radio. Seem like Faith Radio wants to be on FM than AM.

Louis,

I'm not sure but he has several translators as well, so I'm thinking he's considering moving
the programming totally to FM signals.

The biggest drawback to having sports on a daytimer is of the number of games you are unable to carry because you end up having to sign-off in mid-game. I ran into this back when WCVC was carrying Alabama Crimson Tide football. WCVC had no post-sunset authorization, meaning we had several games each season we couldn't air. Finally one of the sponsors said he didn't want to sponsor any more seasons because of the daytimer issue and the others followed suit. 1070 would have similar issues.

Sports outside of FSU in Tallahassee seems to be a hard sell to advertisers. WHBT 1410 The Fan appeared to have run into this brick wall. They had a 1.2 in their best book then dropped to nothing. That's when they went back to the gospel network.

When you said "I like 1270 WNLS b/c of Florida State.." you pretty much summed up sports radio here. If it's not FSU-related the audience is so miniscule it's not sellable.

I just returned from a trip to NC then to Tennessee. Along the way I heard *some* AM stations that were quite decent and doing a lot of things that made Tallahassee AM seem pretty lackluster in comparison.
