1070 The Fan

After a couple of evenings of Steve Simpson's show, I think there should be a flip with Simpson at 3pm and Wilson at 6.

It will be nice to have something new with Kravitz' show following Limbaugh (different stations I know), assuming 1070 continues with it's regular traffic reports.

I think the ONLY negative on this deal for Emmis is that Kravitz will steal a lot of Wilson's current listeners. I would expect something to give by this summer/fall with Wilson and /or Garrison. My guess would be after the fanfare of the frequency switch dies down, Wilson will be the easiest to replace, picking up some more headlines and another mild bump in publicity/curiosity of the 'new' host.

Another big positive will be no more Fever games interrupting evening talk/weather alerts on the FM.

Well according to the Fan Preview shows done on 1070 the fan by Michael Grady and Kent Sterling. they said they were leaving the traffic and weather stuff to 93.1. I think it would be wise to air traffic and weather during the sports update 3 times an hour. its not like they have to air traffic 6 times an hour like WIBC has always and still does now on FM.

That's my feeling, too. Maybe sometime this Summer, we'll hear some new voices on WIBC 93.1.

I dont know why so many of you on this board hate Dave Wilson..but there are a lot of people who enjoy..and are entertained by his show. You can hope all you want that his show will go away, but it's not going anywhere.

Why is it that any time someone disagrees with someone or some show or some idea that people instantly throw the word "hate" out there? Just because I do not find Mr. Wilson's show entertaining as a listener doesn't mean I hate him. It just means I think the biggest talk station in the city should have something better on during drive time is all. Im no expert but I think hating someone and making opinions about the entertainment value of a show are two different things. We all know theres only one person Radio Ho has it in for...Old Skool.

Sorry Matt. Didn't mean to ruffle your feathers!

Like Wannabe said. I NEVER said anything about 'hate.' It's just time for a change. There is no spark left with Wilson's schtick. I didn't even say fire him. Just move something/someone else to the 3pm slot. And eventually it WILL go somewhere. He's not retiring in that time slot. So eventually you will be wrong budwimp ...

much like when the 'ho predicted two weeks before it was announced that KLU would switch to Moldie Oldies.

wannabe - I don't have it IN for anyone - including radio station owners with fictitious names on this board. I just enjoyed pointing out the hypocrisy of said radio station owner who came on here only to tell others how brilliant it was to copy his rival's format song for song. Let your station speak for itself - which it did, when it took a nosedive to a 2.1 - Produce first, then brag and no one can call you out.

Apparently none of you monitored the updates on the 93.1 schedule as Emmis was getting ready for the switch. Originally Dave and Joe were to be on from 8:30 to 11:30 am and Garrison was to host the drive home. After the trends came out, Dave and Joe were back to afternoon drive and Garrison went to middays.
The key element to the sentence is "after the trends came out..." That must mean there was some upward movement in Dave's ratings or Emmis would have pulled the Wilson/Garrison switch. Wouldn't you think?

There was upward movement because of WIBC - NOT Dave Wilson.

I'm listening to WIBC every afternoon because of NEWS, Weather, TRAFFIC - NOT Dave Wilson.

I will ALWAYS listen to WIBC in PM drive because for whatever reason, I trust their traffic updates, comfortable with Steve Simpson's news, etc.

But I would listen REGARDLESS of the host (assuming it's not a dog, and even then ...)

No question Garrison would have been AWFUL in afternoon drive, THAT would have been a mistake regardless. Garrison if fine in the morning for the old farts, but afternoon should be mixed up a little bit. It's been too long with the same joke delivery, same board op jokes, etc.

(but I don't HATE Dave).

I was glad to listen to the Fan this morning during my morning drive. I like the Mike and Mike show (and get out early enough to hear it at 6am), but 950 didn't have the juice to reach the Carmel/Westfield area where I work.

So this morning I listen. The first 5 minutes of the show had commercials AND show simultaneously. Also, a lot of the commercials have been overstepping each other. Who's running the show down there? Terrible production, but I guess it's just the first day.

The one irony of the sports talk war here is when Patrick first left the network, it looked bad for WXLW, but in the long run, they get him back. Mike and Mike are good, but Patrick's better.

I miss Mark Patrick, too.

Not! ;D

Sir, I gotta go...

I'm pretty sure radioho meant Dan Patrick ... :p

Mark Patrick was on WNDE not WXLW.

I too am glad Dan Patrick is back on in Indy ... although, I do like Mike and Mike ... miss Kornheiser ... can't stand to listen too long to Cowherd ... I fail to understand why people like the guy (although, I'm sure those same people don't understand why anyone could like Kornheiser).

Yes, I know that. I thought it would be funny to bring up a name from the past. And even funnier that I would have to explain my thoughts in a followup post. Ugh.

Whatever happened to Mark Patrick? Last I heard he was working at ESPN 1000 in Chicago.

You never know around here ... sarcasm and innuendo are lost without a voice or a tongue-in-cheek emote. ::)

At this point WXLW is the best sports talk station in Indy, not the Fan, not WNDE.

More sarcasm I hope? Because you have got to be kidding.

A board op always stands by his station.
