Some things I noticed:
1) Something is weird with the top-hour tone. First, I don't think it really belongs on a sports-talker. Second, it doesn't sync up with the ESPN feed (I know that Sportscenter starts exactly at the top of the hour, and the tone is coming before the ID). I wonder if they're injecting it somehow after the IBOC delay.
2) I'm pretty sure the VO guy is Micheal Grady, scoreboard host on Indiana Sports Talk. His producer is doing something wrong, because he sounds far better doing the scoreboard updates.
3) Way too many plugs for WIBC. "We can't compete with Jake & Terry on FM 93 IBC"
4) WIBC needs some constant branding -- Which of these is it?
FM 93 IBC
93 IBC
FM 93 WIBC
[I could probably toss in some other variations)
5) Kravitz and Eddie don't seem to have any material. The show I listened to talked about how few sponsorships there were on the station, and that Angela Buchman should be hired by the Pacers to do weather updates during timeouts. I'm sure it was better the week that Kelvin Sampson got fired, but the mark of a good talker is having material when there really isn't a lot going on.
6) The automation must rejoin ESPN Radio on time when the break is over. I've heard them go back anywhere from 30 seconds early to 5 seconds early ("on ESPN Radio and ESPNradio.com"). They didn't have this kind of problem when News/Talk was running on that frequency.
I'd be surprised if Indianapolis is a profit bright spot when Emmis reports 1Q earnings in a couple of months...I know RadioNOW was pulling a higher spot load and probably at a higher rate than WFNI is generating.
