God, can you guys pull it back a little bit? I realize that when you voicetrack 2 or 3 stations at once, you don't have time for subtleties, but your microphones must be covered in chunks!

Care to elaborate a bit? I have no idea what you're talking about.

They're all Frank FM stations. All owned by Nassau and broadcast a classic rock-hits format. Apparently their personalities voicetrack on two or even all three of the stations.

And they all sound like they're vomiting when they "talk." Except for Mike Roberts, who can't say his name enough

If it makes you feel better, I puked after a bit too much of the Old Crow last night! Thank god it comes in a plastic bottle, it was hard hanging to a bottle and a lamppost in that wind last night!

A quick website comparison shows that our friends Chrissy Cavotta, Bill Fox and Leif Erickson are on both 107.5 AND 105.5... and here's the kicker, our Viking pal does the afternoon show on ALL THREE. I enjoy listening to the "professor" but yikes, when is enough enough? Anyhow, next time I see him, I'll definitely be asking for a "charitable contribution"! Even a bum deserves a bottle of the "good stuff" from time to time! Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

Burp!

Anyone remember the overnighter on 'HOB back in the day...he would VOMIT. WWWWWWONEE OH SIX POINT THREEE.....very over dramatic.

And what's even funnier is the fact that there are LOCAL ADVERTISERS who actually buy 10, 15 & 30 second spots on stations like these! Who would have thought that "retreaded garbage" (aka "canned crap") like the aforementioned could possibly provide the 'biggest bang for the advertising buck?'

argy heres a thougt. why don't YOU get a job in radio and maybe you can be a pd or gm and make the rules. no more puking dj's, no more screaming jocks, no more screaming jingles. just the smooth sultry sounds of your own voice or dead air. whatever.

And with all due respect to Volleyball....I PLAYED RADIO (just like he's doing now) FOR A PERIOD OF 30+ YEARS! The only difference between then and now...was that on-air people (which included pd's, jocks, and even part-timers) were allowed to bring up a programming suggestion without getting shot down by an outside consultant....or a smart-a** sales person who claimed to know everything about how radio should sound?

I'll bet volleyball doesn't have that option? But if he does...you wouldn't know it---based on the way many stations in Northern New England are sounding right now.

To quote a line from the movie: FORREST GUMP....."stupid is as stupid does!"

Have a good day, Volleyball! Likewise TGIR.

I can only speak from my personal experience, but I have never once felt any of my suggestions were not legitimately considered. In fact my PD even seeks out the suggestions of his staff on a weekly basis. The difference is I don't whine about it if my suggestion doesn't go through. I think you are generalizing again Argy, just regurgitating the same bitterness you always do.

The pig, however, will be sponsored!

and speaking of how great things were back in the day...

how many 95.9 fans know that the original station at that frequency was
not only Country, but it was, indeed, WPIG. Bart Bailey, the WGAN Radio
chief engineer, put the station on the air.

and will the flying pig be sponsored by a nice, local, original thinking
Maine concern? or by some out-of-state, corporately-consulted consortium?

just wonderin'.

noon, you say? i'll have to make sure i'm there. ;-)

what goes best with flying pig? MD-20-20? or a nice vintage Boone's Farm?
let me know! i'll spring for the brown bag.

now, don't make me pull this thread over. things are starting to get ugly
and personal.

And YOU, JEFF....are being a bit too "oversensitive and perhaps a little too defensive"---as you USUALLY ARE---when anybody makes a negative comment! My remarks aren't intended to "whine about the good ole' days of radio!" They come from a broadcast professional who can tell the difference between good radio and crap....who ISN'T being paid by ANY RADIO GROUP...to offer compliments about poor programming.

Unfortunately...you don't have this option since it's not politically correct to "bite the hand that feeds you!"
