1080 ON LABOR DAY

Does anyone know if this happened on WKJK yesterday?

The WPGB, Pittsburgh-based duo of Jim Quinn and Rose Tennent has about 17 affiliates for a talk-based morning show – but on Labor Day Monday, what they were fed instead was the audio of sister Clear Channel rocker WDVE (102.5). I’m told this wasn’t just a matter of a few minutes – it ran until 10am. One T-R-I reader reports “I heard the local liners just slamming right into Led Zeppelin.” He also wonders how many affiliate stations of the “War Room” were on autopilot themselves on a holiday weekend, and didn’t catch the wrong feed. From the Quinn & Rose website, it appears the show’s also fed onto XM channel 158 – don’t know if ’DVE’s music ran there, too.

I wondered why I was hearing classic rock on 1080 yesterday morning. They came out of the network news with Jethro Tull or something. I was half asleep at the time.

Looks like EVERYONE was on autopilot.

Maybe CheapChannel finally fired one too many employees! Didn't "WKRP in Cincinnati" have an episode where only Herb Tarlak was left running the station? It only took 25 years, but welcome to the future ClearChannel!

Yes they did. It was a funny play on the story "A Christmas Story". It was ironic that they predicted the future of radio dead on. It does not come as a surprise to me.

Were there any FCC rules broken? This is as classic a goof as Arthur Carlson saying, "As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!"
