The problem is right there: being #2 and #3 among talk radio hosts means that they're #2 and #3 in a dying (actually, I'll just go ahead and call it dead, it only persists because iHeartMedia and Cumulus still own a ton of AM stations and have to figure out something to do with them to not make them completely hemorrhage money) format. It seems that the only talk radio that continues to thrive is strong local talk radio hosts (like what you hear increasingly rarely on WHAS) and Rush Limbaugh.
As for KSR, I question if that is really as big of a deal as it claims to be. It is definitely a positive for 1080 for sure, probably their highest rated thing. But how many people listen it outside of the hardcore UK fanbase? I know many of them who listen to it, but I'm not sure I've met any garden variety UK fans who are even aware it is something that exists. And I've also noticed anytime that I read of how well it is doing, it is always around December-March, the heart of the basketball season. What about the rest of the year? (I know, of course, this is information that the general public isn't privy to.)
