1090 the Fan

Does anyone know what happened to Bill Swartz from the Sandmeyer Show during afternoon drive? I was out of town last week and Monday he was missing.

They let him go. It wasn't about him, it was because no one is listening to the radio station and they can't afford top talent like Bill.

Wow. At least KPTK did a .8 or more (.9?). Something HALFWAY worth keeping.

Not to say I'm against Bill Swartz. I don't know him, nor sports in general. I honestly wish him well in greener places. But 1090 is a joke today. He could do better.

But CBS would NEVER have hired him if he didn't have some SERIOUS background in sports. So I say he's good. (How 'bout it KRKO?)

Besides, SOMEONE was listening long enough to notice...

What CBS did with the launch of 1090 is typical: bring in heritage broadcasters who are fmailiar the the audience, then let them go. Alpha did this with their roll-out in Portland aboutn5 years ago, bringing in Chris Mays, Dave Scott, Archer, Inessa, and others to re-establish KINK. Once that was accomplished, they were all fired, one-by-one.

Ferrell on the Bench at night is often interesting listening. He's a bit cantankerous at time, though.

That other night guy, "DA" something or other, he's also interesting.

Although I was a listener to KPTK, after the start of the 2012 election cycle they became more and more shrill, and less and less interesting to listen to.

The second fiddle player on 1090 Jason Churchill as on vacation last week and I think I heard Elise Woodward filling in. She got the unexpected hook at KJR when they were trying to find a courtesy seat for Spike O'Neal when the Bob Rivers show wound down. Elise deserved way better. Then Spike and Jerry Brewer were unceremoniously dumped for a cheaper syndicated? two hour filler. No loyalty just $$$. There is nothing on the air anymore worth listening to.
