11 Alive changes news music

11 Alive changed their news theme music yesterday. They are now using "The Tower" by 615 Music, which was commissioned by NBC O&O stations in 2000.

The previous music, "Alive" by the same company (615), was commissioned by WXIA in 1999, and redone in 2002.

I wonder why they didn't make the change when they started HD news back in February.

They changed most of it. The music for "On Time Traffic" is still the same. Don't get that

I miss the old theme that 11 Alive used during the 80's and 90's when I was growing up. Classic stuff. I can still hear it playing in my head at times it was so catchy. I also remember the film around the area that they would show with the credits at local schools and stuff. The helicopter visited my preschool and that was very exciting!

I remember that as well. That was part of the Frank Gari "Hello News" music package which included the promotional "Hello Georgia" song as well. This was the John Pruitt/Chuck Moore era.

I remember when 11 Alive's helicopter visited my school in 1989 when I was in kindergarden. Bruce Aaron was the pilot then (Bruce is now a lifeflight paramedic). The only shot they had of we was my back from 100 feet away!

A few years before that, Frank Gari created a similar package for WSB-TV called "NewsChannel" that contained a promotional song as well. (NewsChannel is still used today at WTOC-TV in Savannah).

You can find out more (and clips of what I mentioned) at http://www.southernmedia-nmsa.com/

I thought I noticed new music on 11Alive yesterday. I didn't like it. WAY too dramatic, at least to my ears.

And I agree, they should bring back the old "Hello Georgia" bit. TV News in Atlanta has gotten far too stuffy. Skycam visited my elementary school when I was in kindergarten and I've never forgotten it.

See what a little simple PR can do? That was just over 20 years ago.
