11 Alive gets the "WIZ"

WXIA has launched their "Weather Information Zone", or W-I-Z. They have changed their 11 Alive HD animated bug on the bottom-right corner of the screen during newscasts to promote the WIZ. They have a new huge weather set with a video wall they are using at the beginning of the forecasts (but still use the chroma key to show the maps).

I don't know about this. My question is how they will deal with severe weather. They are not even promoting anything about that. They are making their "Wizometer" (on a scale from 1 to 11) their central focus. If you ask me...this is a huge mistake.

I just watched the morning forecast w/Chris Holcomb online. It looks like they recorded it with a camera phone. WTH? And don't even get me started on the stupid name and silly "weather by the numbers" crap. It's such an obvious gimmick.

And who knowadays has a cubed monitor wall?!

both CBS ATlanta and 11 Alive are doing this weather by the numbers thing. Which market started this??? CBS Atlanta started this 2 weeks prior to 11 Alive. Those stupid "your days are about to be numbered" promos on 11 must've got CBS started.
