Does a 50,000 watt transmitter use 50,000 watts of electricity to operate? So if your electric rate is 8 cents per KwH you get 50,000/1,000 * 0.08 or $4 per hour just to keep the xmitter on?
A 50,000 watt transmitter doesn't use 50,000 watts. It generates 50,000 watts of RF output. I think. I'm not an engineer and don't play one on tv.
