Perhaps they spent the $900.00 for a new tube. I'll trade with them though, because I put a new tube in our transmitter yesterday at a cost of $36,000.00

What Model Transmitter was That? What is the Power Output? How old is it? Are you Working on WMNY's 1 KW?

It's an Acrodyne TV xmtr. using an inductive output tube (Klystrode). No, I never worked on that 1 KW unit. I assume you are referring to the old Raytheon. I did play around with a 5KW Raytheon at the 1460 station in Harrisburg many years ago.

833A's are $900 now?? Huh?? ???

Last time I bought 4-400C's for the backup-backup RCA (admittedly about ten years ago) they were about $250 each, which I thought was awful.

The tube in question at 1110 is a 5-500. We could probably rewire the xmtr to use a 4-400 but by the time you do that and buy 4 new tubes you could pick up an Armstrong solid-state rig.

The last 833's I purchased came from Hungary and they lasted about 4 months. We actually melted the glass on one of them.
