1120 WDUF Duffield, VA

This little station is just across the state line from Kingsport near Gate City, which is why I'm posting this on the East Tennessee board...

Does anyone know why or how long this station has been dark? I was through this area last Friday (May 11) punching up the little AMs(and FMs) as I neared each town. I noticed the closer I got to Duffield, there was no signal on 1120 WDUF. When I got to town I saw what looked to be their tower and went to investigate. What I found was what looked like a large outbuilding or a small barn--nonetheless very clean and well-kept--in a neat little neighborhood. The grounds have been regularly cared for, too, along with the tower which looked like it had been painted within the past year.

The owner of the station died. A family member loaned money to that family member for the station with the right to purchase the station for $1.00 if the loan was not repaid. It wasn't. Now said family member has obtained a summary judgement and filed with the commission to transfer to the station to herself. The owner's heir is in a nursing home. There are two powers of attorney out there, who don't seem to agree.

The Fox made for TV movie starts shooting next week.

I noticed today that the owners of the WDUF license turned it in to the FCC and the station had been deleted. Anyone have any poop on this one?
