1160 and the endless Steve Jarnekee play by play

Wow. Great programming, just what I wanted: UC Bearcat baseball broadcasts, Florence Boring Freedom broadcasts during prime to late-prime listening hours...cuttting out of Wildman to go to the breathless, weak-voiced, annoying raspy Steve Jarnekee(spelling?).
Good job, 1160. And make sure EVERY spot is voiced by your superstar PG. There is a reason this "talent" is on 1160.
Can't wait to hear that riveting minor-league/College baseball broadcast. What's next? CORNHOLE play-by-play?
Good job though on Larry Kudlow...very good programming. Listening now. But still now supporting any of your over-broadcast/saturated advertisers with sissified sounding voiced spots by Jeff Piccoro(spelling?). He sounds like a real pink polo shirt-wearer. What a white guy.
Savage/Miller/Kudlow rule. Keep Wildman, get him some more calls. Work on that.

Do the opposite of everything Buck asks you to do. Just cuz you know he's going to listen anyway and it will be amusing to log on here and read about him pulling his hair out. ;-)

Plus, i am pretty convinced that he works for a competitor in the market.

Gee, maybe WMOH....

Your knowledge of Cincy signals is pretty poor for a station owner, jry, if you consider WMOH to be a competitor to 1160. Of course, considering 1160 to be a Cincinnati competitor crowns you as the "Queen of Denial" for the Queen City. 50% drop in share since Jan 1...maybe more loss by now...we'd only know if Arbitron would publish non-subscribers. I suspect you might be at double zeros. So much for your brilliant new programming.

Jarnicki is as close to chalk on a blackboard as Brandy Straiter is on 55KRC News. At least Steve doesn't say "Ohi-YO". And, at least Steve knows how to sell. He has actual local clients on the air, unlike that waste of space you call a station manager.

I may listen, but I don't BUY!!!!...ahahahahahaaaaaaa! I dissuade anyone from supporting any Jeff Piccoro-voiced spot. That guy is just a cheesy suburban cheating husband, posing on a "Christian" radio station. Ha. The owners of Grandview Tavern have reported this.
Funny how jry never addresses the actual issues, except for blaming the Denis Miller folks for the tick tocking noise.
Yep, Jarnicki can sell...great for HIM. He makes $$$...so does jry...and the programming SUCKS. Rookies!
JUST LIKE CLEAR CHANNEL/CumonUs radio.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Sounds like a lot of hate and jealousy here. So you don't like the programming, don't listen. There are lots of stations in this market.

Are personal attacks really necessary? So jry was set up by his Dad or father in law maybe, who cares. Good for him. Passing jewels, businesses, crowns, fortunes, etc. to the next generations has been going on since the beginning of time.

jry is trying to make a profit in a difficult economy and he's doing it his way. Is there really anything wrong with that. Come on guys lighten up.

Maybe it's time for some of you to rethink your life. The way you live and what you have or haven't done with your life. It doesn't help you or change your situation when you complain about the success of others.

Well said, Bizman.

I will never....NEVER....understand the people on this board who continually listen to stations and shows they don't like. Unless you're researching the competition, it makes NO sense.

There is some serious vitriol here. I don't get it. There's a difference between frank criticism and all out bitterness and nastiness.

That said there is much, much, much for 1160 to work on. I don't think that's news to jry. Signal and automation problems aside, there's a lot about the station that just sounds amateurish. And anyone who didn't see Furman's exit coming the day he started working there is seriously kidding themselves. It will be a while before they can retain any truly good local talent. And jry you mentioned using online analytics as a possible ratings measurement. Do you mean streaming and web visits? I hope I'm misunderstanding you because that just sounds like wishful thinking.

Again this isn't out of meanness, it's just honest feedback. Cincinnati needs and deserves better radio and if all that hard work has to start at the bottom, so be it, because it sure isn't going to start at WLW.

Example: People used to listen to Howard Stern because they wanted to hear what he was going to say/do next. Liking the show or not didn't matter.

The same thing applies.

I don't mind constructive criticism.

We get some pretty good analytics. It shows TSL and all. However, nothing beats advertiser feedback.

Anyone who believes that WMOH is a threat to anyone (including 1160) is smoking their breakfast. The morning show is local, but painful to listen to. I do listen to Mike Gallagher, but that's about it. Airing Dennis Prager and Michael Medved in a culturally bankrupt, hillbilly town like Hamilton, makes no sense whatsover.

I do like "Sky-Eye Weather" on WMOH. Best feature they have, and it doesn't seem to be sponsored by anyone.

Production on WMOH and WQRT are equally bad. Clearly, WQRT could use a good production director.
