1160am is now WQRT

Here we go again. Another try at a format similar to what Salem had on the station when they owned it.

http://tinyurl.com/q3n2vn

The lineup on June 15:
6-9 am.: Washington Times
9 am-noon: Laura Ingraham
noon-2 pm: Neil Boortz
2-5 pm: Dave Ramsey
5-8 pm: Dr. Laura Schlessinger
8-10 pm: Jerry Doyle
10 pm-1 a.m.: Rusty Humphries
1-4 a.m.; Phil Hendrie
4-6 a.m.: to be announced

In amateur radio, QRT means "I am now leaving the air". Wonder what genius picked those calls?

Haha. Those calls may be appropriate then. Phil Hendrie is the only show worth listening to if your close enough to hear the station after sunset.

LOL, Bob... I thought the same upon reading just the headline here. THIS IS A VERY SAD "EVOLUTION" :'(

I was listening to a Catholic radio program on 1160 after I clocked out of work at 5pm. By 5:06 pm amidst an annoying buzz in the background there was a generic sounding legal id : "WDJO,Florence." It then segued into the repetitious infomercial its been airing almost continuously since Monday.

They are still Id'ing as WDJO however, 1480 will be dropping the WCIN calls in favor of WDJO once the WQRT calls are issued. Radio One would be smart to get the WCIN calls for 1230am.

Gymnastics – merely painfull reps on the weight bench... CCU should snag the WCIN calls for 1530—the LOWEST-rated full-time 50k in our country... Is there an R&R headline awaiting us? :D

Any R&R headline better show up pretty quick ... they're shutting down permanently on Friday.

I don't mind the format, although I'd rather hear Dennis Miller than Laura Ingraham. I'd also rather hear Don Imus than the Washington Times but no way I'd expect that to happen with this ownership.

Nothing else on the station really sounds that interesting to me. I'll try them all once though...except Dave Ramsey and Dr. Laura. It is impossible for me to stay awake listening to that kind of conversation. Nothing against THEM...I just hate advice shows.

I have been in radio for 7 years (not a real long time compared to some I know) and had no clue that QRT means that. Although some who do amateur radio may chuckle I don't think the general population will think that.

Cumulus tried an FM with a similar line up a few years back...it started to get some traction before they yanked the plug. Maybe this one will have similar success.

I completely agree...it's something only a tiny portion of the population will pick up on, but that tiny portion will chuckle.

All of the hosts excluding Boortz (Cox/Dial-Global) and Dr. Laura (Premiere/TOTD) are Talk Radio Network products this time. Hell, they could've added Mancow and Roy Masters to the lineup and they would have a clean sweep! ::)

Add Ramsey to your non TRN folks. He self syndicates.

W Q R T = We Quit Radio Today. Blast that line-up through Gitmo's speakers and those terrorists will spill everything they know within a day! ;D Third tier talkers on a third tier signal just ain't gonna cut it. Good luck to everyone at 1480, keep crankin' the great oldies!

LOL Good one TB.WQRT We're Quiet Right Wing Talk. You've heard it all once before, if you can hear the station after sunset.

Slapping TANKS on the back – GOOD ONE! 1160 is a third—NO FORTH—maybe fifth-tier talk station. NO MARKET – NO REVENUE - NO CHANCE! 'Seems Roger couldn't continue to deal with the owners of the 1160 channel, so they snagged what was available—1480 ::) In my dreams, I wish they could have coaxed the 1360 frequency away from the folks that do very-little with it... For goodness sake, give the great hits a chance!

Praise the Lord & pass the 1360...to Rodger!

Even though the Smooth Jazz format was a subtle R&B format, I'm just very surprised that the format didn't make it.

OK so they're getting rid of some historic call letters and got rid of a format that wasn't Sports, Gospel or News/Talk. Yeah boy - good job!
