Allow me to correct you. I have not criticized any of my fellow air talents. I am personal friends with Chuck Stevens, Kevin Seal, Matt Bradley and just about anybody else you can name on the air. I do not speak for those guys nor do I make any claims to. If you can point to a personal attack against a fellow Jock by me, then get after it.
My criticisms regard the state of radio as compared to when it was personality driven. Not hate driven, not cue card driven and certainly not dumbass driven. I very seriously doubt anybody is mad at me, with the exception of maybe you, for my being honest about the way I see things. I've seen managers come and go and there is no doubt in my mind I will continue to do so. You are correct about SHOW BUSINESS. Radio was always a business. But it used to require imagination and personality and "RADIO PEOPLE"! When conglomeration began and computers took over the music, the industry began figuring out ways to do away with the talent. Hence voicetracking. Wow! That makes a young talent want to be in radio. Burn bridges? Hell, that fire got started a long time ago by the greedy bastards who gobbled up all of the properties and then went public. Not only do the stockholders lose as well as the listeners, but so do the people who used to be able to make a living and feed a family in the Tulsa Market. As far as picking on GM's, there are only two in my entire career I could name, but never will, that weren't qualified for the position. Which is really an accidental insult. I have worked with some very intelligent people. It's just that back in the old days if you worked for a jerk a fella could walk across the street and go to work for another station. Now every station in town is owned by three or four people.
As far as making everyone in broadcasting mad at me, don't be so childish. Just about every guy or gal I know who are still on the air feels the same way I do. As far as being worthy of my talent, Journal obviously wasn't. Your comment about my bashing every radio group and manager in town is way out of line. That's the way rumors get started and besides that it's an untruthful, limp wristed way of trying to say I stepped on your toe. Well, get over it!
