There has been a dead carrier reported in NE PA on 1181,no modulation. Has anyone picked this up in NJ? This was picked up at night and was very powerful.
Who,What. Why? It was picked up over a wide area.

Are you sure it's not coming from a source around you, as in your vehicle or house?

No. This was reported in Monitoring Times magazine. Also heard by a friend in NE PA.
I have been trying to hear it. Its been heard during night time hours.

Could it be a ghost of a pirate AM station set to the wrong frequency? Or maybe Cuba's trying to jam 1180 by transmitting on 1181 so that a heterodyne obliterates the signal. 1181 is not a valid US or European AM frequency.
Just listened to 1181 now, all I hear is WHAM
