Lets hope that 1190 does revert back to Classic Country. Not that it was a ratings driven (or revenue driven) station when it was before. But at least it had some noticable cume. 60,000 in it's last Country ratings book as compared to 12,000 as CNN at the 6 month mark of the News format. What is unfortunate is the Clear Channel pays absolutley no attention to this station when it comes to programming or sales. It is almost "anything goes" when it comes to whatever block programming. There is no PD or programming staff to stop sales from this. Not that it would help. As a guy who has worked at Classic Country stations as a jock and sales manager it is sad to see. I was at Clear Channel when it flipped to CNN and It was the typical "this is awesome!"in the sales meeting and then the station was quickly pushed aside and forgotten.
A stick like 1190 will never be a money or ratings giant. But it already is something special. A 50K AM stick. And those are rare. Too bad people in charge do not take the opportunity to build WSM-AM or KWKH. Radio how it used to be. When it sounded real.
