A glance at the Radio America schedule shows these basic components:

1) Michael Reagan: been there, done that. The guy brings nothing to the table.
2) G. Gordon Liddy: this convicted Watergate minor player is still on the air?
3) Greg Knapp: good luck in prying him away from WBAP.

Obviously we're looking at partial clearance of the Radio America line-up. You folks are right. This is just what D/FW doesn't need. Reminds me of the old 1190 from the '90's, when the number of format changes and call letter switches added up to more than the total number of listeners.

They're not changing crap, it's still going to be classic country but probably under another motto.

I would like to see 1190 go 50'60's oldies or play adult standards like KAAM used to play. I'm hearing too many rock and roll OLDIES on KAAM lately. Hell give KLUV some competition!

There are a couple of important things to consider here. Regardless of the fact that it has been operating under an LMA KFXR is still owned by Clear Channel, which has dominant talk stations in many markets. Dallas-Fort Worth is not one of them. Obviously becoming an affiliate of Radio America, in and of itself, wouldn't make them a major player but the acquisition of a couple of nationally successful talk shows could make a real difference.

Clear Channel owns Premiere Radio, which owns Rush. With Citadel buying ABC, why wouldn't Clear Channel take Rush off WBAP and put him on 1190? They could also put Dr. Laura, Glenn Beck and Coast to Coast on 1190, since they own those shows. Put somebody good--local--in mornings and afternoons, and voila, you got yourself a talk station with that strong daytime signal. Better yet, put it where the Edge is and do FM talk, just not the smut talk that Russ and those guys do on the ex-Free FM station.

If it goes talk again maybe the ghost of Morton Downy Jr. and Ron Engleman will return. ;D

Was that in the brief lifespan of KGBS? It's all a blur (or just a bad memory). So many feeble attempts and wasted opportunities, so many call letters on 1190: KLIF, KLAF, KYII, KUII, KGBS, KDFX, KOOO, KLUV, KJOI, KTRA, KFXR, and maybe soon to be something else. Then again, if they somehow wrested away Rush and Mark from 820 and swiped Fox news from 570, "1190-FXR" Fox Right Wing Radio would be the perfect moniker.
