1190 KFXR Knocked-out by Electrical Storm

At about 10:49 PM 1190 KFXR's Night Tower was Struck by a bolt of lightning knocking out Service to Collin County [as far as i know]. I know Because i heard it happen. The Radio Popped loudly with the crackle of lightning in it and the station was gone.
 
OK Umm, the tower (which one by the way??) wasn't "struck" by lightning. More likely a transformer or something in the area (Rockwall) blew. I just woke up, heard it off, called them and asked to turn it back on.

I thought i was the only one listening to 1190 ;)
 
lol. Its actually good for no Dj's. Bad Ass Daytime Coverage. Night has alot to be desired....
So thats what happend. Well theyre on now. So they got it fixed ;)
 
Apparently whoever their overnight guy/gal is hadn't taken readings between 10:49 and when I heard it at 12:45 or so. Gotta love waking up engineers at 1am! But yeah, he turned it back on. So there's your classic country jukebox back. You're welcome ;)
 
I can relate to that... Heck KEOM's transmitter calls out when something's amiss. Guess who's at the top of the list, after the studio phone number? The price I pay for sometimes being a nightowl. I refer to it as "my annoying ex GF", cuz she calls me way too much!

My current transmitters send emails when something is wrong. My darn crackberry just buzzes off the nightstand if it happens at night, because usually itll send half a dozen at a time. Ain't technology grand?
