I invite people on this New York board to read my post below (Percy, pull the plug on AAR). Unfortunately, it was moved to the News-Talk board where everything seems to become a political football.
This post is about a local New York radio station (WLIB). (I apologize if I did not make that apprent in the original post.) The post is an open-letter to the New York civic leaders who founded Inner City Broadcasting:
Former Manhattan Borough President Percy Sutton
Former New York City Mayor David Dinkens
And New York 15th District US Representative Charles Rangel
The open-letter asks whether it is appropriate for these New York City leaders, in view of a scandal involving New York City and State tax monies, to continue a business association by which local New York radio station WLIB is leased to Air America Radio.
This is not about whether one agrees with viewpoints now expressed on WLIB (I generally agree, as I imagine Borough President Sutton, Mayor Dinkens and Representative Rangel - all New York City Democrats - do).
Please read the post and reply here with any WLIB and New York-specific comments.
One issue not addressed in the original post: WLIB is a station in the number one market with virtually NO local content. Is the licensee (Inner City Broadcasting Corporation) meeting its obligation to its city of license and the region?
