12:30pm and the AM band was wide open!

It sounded more like 4-4:30pm with most of the X-band stations like the Grand Rapids area Radio Disney and WRLL in..and graveyard-like interference under some of the semi-locals like WULM, Springfield, OH (20 miles away from where I was)and WCKY (50 miles away). Caught the radio Disney from the Pittsburgh area on 540, WLAC strong and a mystery on 1040..The Sports Addict network and mentions of Boyd County. Didn't ID a lot but things seemed to be hoppin'<P ID="signature">______________

The only states with a Boyd county that I could find were Kentucky and Nebraska. Ashland, Kentucky is in a Boyd County. And there is a 1040 near Ashland. It's a southern gospel daytimer.

Your 1040 was likely WOKT Cannonsburg, KY.

Are we sure it's still gospel? The Sports Addict Network is a Blacksburg, VA-based network for UVA/VaTech/WVU sports. WKEX-1430 is the flagship. WOKT is the only 1040 that would make any geographic sense, but<a href ="http://www.thesportsaddictnetwork.com"> the network site</a> lists a "Sporting News 1040" without giving any calls. I'm thinking they've flipped and no online source has reported the change.

WOKT apparently was it. I know I've heard Southern Gospel on 1040 before but it was several years ago. Notice this network is alos on 1390 in Middleport, OH, the former WMPO! (there buddy!). <P ID="signature">______________
