Yes, that has been confirmed by me with TV listings and all. It begins on August 29th.

It also looks like they've recently expanded that 15-minute newscast at Noon to a full half-hour, though I'm unsure as to when that happened.

The noon newscast has been 30 minutes since late 2020 or early 2021. They expanded it during the pandemic when the paid segments for their lifestyle show dried up. Unfortunately, the tv listings were not updated for months and months.

Didn't want to bother putting this in a separate thread, but noticing flipping the TV on at 3 to 12 News & instead of the special early scheduled airing of First at 4 at 3 due to the NFL game tonight, they're airing a monsoon special. Wonder if they just didn't bother considering the major news across the pond today.

Can someone please explain what primetime offerings have to do with 12news???
A more appropriate banner might be, "HERE'S WHAT'S COMING UP ON PRIMETIME
TONIGHT ON CHANNEL 12."

12 News is the name of the station, not just their newscasts. Therefore they call themselves 12 News instead of KPNX or Channel 12.

Terrible "branding" calling themselves "12 News." Those who watch NBC OTA in Northern Arizona
receive KNAZ, which has absolutely NOTHING to do with any variation of 12. Perhaps a more accurate,
more inclusive branding might be: NBC ARIZONA. Amazing to see how many outdoor antennas are
popping up around Prescott.........

When I moved to Phoenix nearly 20 years ago, I noted that they used "12 News" as the station branding so it's nothing new. However, it seems that you watch Channel 2 KNAZ. I assume that, when it was run independently of 12, Channel 2 did not use "2 News" as the station branding???

I agree that something along the lines of NBC ARIZONA would be a better branding. Then, if they would have 1 or 2 reporters assigned and stationed in Flagstaff to cover Northern Arizona, it would be even better. And they could resurgent the "Arizona Nightly News" name for the 6pm newscast.

Maybe "12 Noos" can just air back to back political ads 24X7 and use the excess heat from its transmitter to cook hot digs for the homeless. They could become "12 Lies and Deception" and might even make more money if the damn election cycle gets any longer.

If I recall correctly, KNAZ used "Regional television for Northern Arizona" as their station branding.
"Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, week days at 2pm on Northern Arizona's channel 2."
"Here's what's coming up in primetime tonight on channel 2."
I sure miss those days........

Earlier this year they actually snuck the space out of the name in print so it reads "12News".

An observation on KNAZ: about the only thing that is channel 2 about it these days is the major channel number set in their encoder.

When I moved here in 2004, 12 News was still a powerhouse in the evenings and took pride in their newscasts (i.e. "12 Stands for Local News")/
