1210 AM Leaves The Air . . . .

...well folks, it's official:

La Raza, 1210 AM is going off the air at 12 Midnight this evening . . . Sun. Jul. 18, 2010.

.....and so, another "mom & pop" goes . . . . . this is so reminding me of when this happened
to KIKX, KJMM, . . . . well, you get the idea. Be sure to listen for the "morse code" ID's !

. . . .to be continued . . . .

I'm glad R-Dub is posting on this Tucson site...I hope you are doing well...regarding the 1210 signal....what happened to it and how would someone try to get it back on the air. I think it's a shame to have a signal in the Tucson market that is "dark". I was in town over the weekend and noticed there was only ONE station that seemed live.....country KIIM 99.5...all others were nothing but poorly done jukeboxes...

I vote that it remain a "Mom & Pop" operation with a unique musical format. It's gonna be hell to erase that half million in the hole before you even bring the station up to par with EAS, etc.
Do they have to protect super-distant 1210 in Philly, which I'm sure don't cut the mustard to the Rockies!

Yes, at night they have to make sure their signal does not go to the northeast where it could interfere with Philly. It likely has to protect 1210 in Guymon, too... and that is much closer.
