1210 The Big (Fill-in-the-blank)

Is anyone else tired of paid programming dusguised as an interesting show?

I dont mind Steve Cordasco when he takes calls. When he's on really early he really pumps his biz and it is boring.

The fish oil guy seems like a con-man. Does anyone else get that feeling? Sure, he is credentialed out the kazoo...but my gut tells me he's got some type kevin trudeau/fcc/ftc stuff in his past. Watch that.

I'm getting "DB in it's last days" vibes from 1210. A little schizo in it's original local programming and of course....the classic..."if you cant find paid programming, put in Dom Giordano, the hang-up king"

What are they doing right?
Kermonish (lol) will go nat'l eventually and they'll lose him.
All satellite feeds are ok but the same mush from show to show. All same talking points.

The big ego of it's management probably will be it's downfall. You all know what and who I am talking about

This is like The Match Game!!

early2rise said "Is anyone else tired of paid programming disguised as an interesting show?" ("How tired are they Gene?" screams the audience), "Instead of "The Big Talker" they should be called..."The Big______"

JaMa says "The Big Hawker" (good answer, Brett and Charles would be proud!)
Stuart says "The Big Vender" ("Boo! Boo!" screams the audience. "It could be there" says a doubtful Gene, while
Betty White gives a smile!)

Good and Fun question early2rise ;D

early2rise,
There is no doubt about it, Paul Lynde was awesome!!.. I always liked Match Game better. I thought it was more fun to watch and participate in, rather than just saying "I agree, or I disagree, or Charley Weaver to block" ;)

Both shows are (and will be forever) television legends! ;D ;D

Is 1210 changing formats??

I forgot all about Charlie Weaver. He was great!
Howabout Wally Cox?

Come on now...the "characters" are so much better on the squares.

1210?
Sources say there is some internal turmoil.
You cannot tell by listening. They seem stable to me. Just a little identity crisis schitzo with the choice of local talent. What do you expect from CBS?

Its a business. WPHT has to run those infomercials or Mike Baldini will lose his job. Unfortuantly, programming has been an afterthought at WPHT for a long long time. The station needs to be programmed more like WIP. Strong, local opinionated hosts who can drive three hours of radio. The station is lucky to have Mike and Dom, but they need more. Sure Hannity is a big name, but is he in the top ten 25-54 in afternoons...not the last time I looked.

But, when you have a sales guy running the station, you will get whoreville radio. Its the easiest way to make a buck BUT, with that biz model, you will never generate gigantic revenue like WIP does. Its impossible. PHT is very simalr to the way WWDB was runned. Maybe Mike and that other WWDB guy from programming spent too much time learning from Dan Sullivan how to run a station.

With all of the other forms of content from podcasts to satellite to CDs., AM and FM Radio needs to be programmed using the only advantage they have over other media, they need to address the local community. If they don't, they will whither away and die...and taking that fish oil pill won't help a bit...
