https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5z4oNNqlao This is one of the most vulgar things I have ever heard. Time for CBS radio to do something with WPHT. Format change, whatever. This is ridiculous that WPHT allows this type of conduct to be on the radio. This is one of the low moments in Philadelphia radio history and its a shame. We all love radio and very passionate about it in this town and this puts a stain on it.

Thanks for the You tube link..I am glad I heard WPHT was getting edgy ,,now Juls...I may have to listen ..ITS AM RADIO..WE NEEDED YOU TO TELL US THIS WAS ON....lol

To be honest, I know I'm the younger one here, I do not find this vulgar at all. Edgy, yes. But not at all vulgar. Vulgar means there is cursing and legitimate offensiveness. But really, this is just talking about raunchy sex. What station doesn't talk about sex (minus the religious ones)

I'm with Julius on this one. That is not something I'd want to listen to. Just because they can do something like that and get away with it, should they?

Bob and Atrain don't find it offensive or vulgar. Atrain admits to being younger. So maybe the question should be, if WPHT goes for raunchy talk, will that bring in younger listeners or chase away the older audience they now have? Will younger listeners cross into the desert of AM radio, their parents radio to listen to talk that turns off their parents? My guess is NO. They can get plenty of that elsewhere and WPHT will simply lose even more of their audience.

Wow, I though Jul didn't listen to 1210 anymore so, how did he hear this? I guess he isn't listening to P&S in the morning. Some things that come out of Steve's mouth would make Jul's head explode. I don't think I'd want my children to hear those comments but, they wouldn't. P&S or Howard are not on the radio around my children. My 10 year old could probably handle it but, I don't expose her to it. I don't expose by younger boys either but, don't think I'd not want people to be able to say these things. I'm 45 by the way so, I guess I'm not considered young anymore.
Jul, if you have Sirius-XM, channel 100 is a GREAT talk station to listen to. If you don't, sign up for the free 30 day trial an stream channel 100.

WPHT has an audience? I think Jul was the only person listening that cared about what was said. Has there been previous raunchy talk on WPHT? I tuned in a few weeks ago on the weekend..don't remember who was on but it sounded like typical conservative talk radio. ("Back when Reagan was in office life was better..if Reagan were alive and in the white house we would be better off blah blah"....) We're all adults and younger people are listening to the music stations if at all.
An AM radio to a younger person would be like myself tuning into a Short Wave radio.. Not likely to happen.

I felt like the analogy of watching someone else have sex with your wife was just DUMB.... Like he just used that analogy for "shock and awe" I mean come on, when does that ever fit your "mental state" about your wife?

I am older and don't like the censorship on our airways, but I didn't really get the point

Joe

That's how I see it. No matter how raunchy the show is, the younger folks under 45 aren't going to tune in to AM any how so why risk losing the audience you have by saying such stuff.

It's like Bill Maher or Jon Stewart, they use vulgar terms, which for me, make their comedy not as funny. The "cutting edge" words don't make them funnier in my opinion. They are funny without that. They sound like middle age men trying to be hip. As a result, I rarely watch them. I'm 63, so I'm not the demo they want to reach any how, but it makes the point.

I'd find the discussion about how great it would be if Reagan were in the White House to be boring too, but then I'm not a Republican and wasn't a fan of Mr. Reagan as President.

It's just the typical "Jul" trying to stir the pot against WPHT. There was nothing to see here...move along...

It's just Jul being Jul, but some idiot actually takes the time to record WPHT every day and look for things that he can complain about. Then he takes the time to make them into Youtube videos. It's the most pathetic form of media rat. A basement dwelling outrage junkie.

Now THAT'S definitely true.

But really, does speaking in these absolutes serve for a thoughtful conversation? The average age for political talk, and political talk on AM, is what it is, but that doesn't mean there aren't younger people listening (as evidenced by some of the callers to the Stigall show). Maybe they're listening to the stream, or they're more capable than the armchair PDs give them credit for of being able to hit that little AM button on their radios.

Maybe CBS is looking bigger picture at some of these things. For now the primary brand of WPHT (and perhaps the same thing can be said of KYW, but let's stick to one example) is as it exists on AM. But they push the digital all the time on the air. If the brand is to have a long-term future, that's where it is. Maybe years and years down the road, and maybe there is no future to be had, but lay the foundation over time to take the shot. And in so doing, they brought in Stigall for mornings, and inserted Zioli in the afternoons after the Morris show ended. Both younger, bringing....well, if not a different viewpoint, at least a different way of presenting said viewpoints. Sometimes that means stirring the pot.

And besides, where are the offended older listeners going to go? To the Bill Bennett program?

Sometimes I think the profanity is appropriate. Especially with Jon Stewart. I like his facial expressions the best. Awhile back Jon was talking about a bunch of frustrating things going on in America...IRS..NSA spying etc...and he yelled out the F word a couple times and I laughed so hard.. I felt what he was saying. Biil Maher I dont' like as much any more as he is up Obama's butt since he gave him a million dollars for his campaign awhile back. I don't think Bill should have done that.. He goes soft on Obama because of it I think.

You don't like Bill Maher because he's "up Obama's butt" but you like Jon Stewart? He's so far up Barry's butt that he knows what the White House chef made for lunch.
