It confused the heck out of me -- didn't know where on the sloppy GE Superadio III I was -- to be hearing 'Fox Oldies' on 1220 yesterday in broad daylight. The GE SR III is a piece of garbage; sensitive yet as selective as oozing rolled paint.
1:15 - 1:45 PM it was. This HUGE signal would do its thing, splashing onto 50,000 watt WPHT 1210 Philly, and they never really IDed. The signal had huge fades for :15 seconds at a time and then they'd come back sounding as though they were from down the block. I'm guessing they had to be WGNY Newburgh NY, right there on the Hudson. There actually were some mid-Hudson businesses mentioned.
But they kept on saying '1220 and 1490' . What 1490 simulcasts them? Port Jervis? Kingston? Someone else?
