1230 KOY

Did this one slip in under the radar...?

The KOY website (http://am1230koy.com) indicates they are
now detouring from their usual satellite music feed--other than
Danny Davis 6-10am--to run John Tesh's syndie show 2-7pm.

Also warranting mention, in this case for all the wrong reasons,
KOY 1230 and KGME 910 are now running I-CRAP. Not sure
how long that's been in place, but you can hear the hash on
the adjacents.

The former Sports Siberia 860 (KMVP) is also I-CRAPping, which
for the most part neuters KOA 850 Denver at night. ::)

Taking a little detour from the first post, but felt the following is worth saying here. I haven't heard him on KOY, but as one who traveled a large part of the nation in the 70s, I rarely heard a better Top 40 jock than Danny Davis--at the time he worked all over the Denver market--particularly at the legendary KIMN and also at KHOW. Simply the best--very high-energy and at the same time highly relatable--two abilities that aren't always found in the same jock--at least to the degree that Danny possessed both. Also often quite humorous. All in all, a jock's jock. Good to see he's still poppin' the mic.

KOY's been running Tesh from 2-7 for years and it's pretty bad. He reads a lot of little Readers Digest tidbits and gives advice like put cotton in your ears when you go to the movies and sleep with socks on because it helps with circulation when you're feet are warm. Tesh is terrible but the music is okay if you like those oldies on the AM band.

Talkjim: Danny's every bit as good as ever. A great talent and a great guy.

Thanks for the update, Michael. I have no doubt that you speak the truth.

The KOY website has a very interesting history section divided by decades. Few, but good pictures.

Numerous frequency changes

Great 55Phoenix, KOY billboard

Kahn Stereo in 1983 - wonder how it sounded

Lots of ownership changes in the 80's and nineties.
