1230 WSBB in middle of changing transmitter sites

For the DXers who may be in WSBB (World's Safest Bathing Beach) 1230 New Smyrna Beach's prime coverage area, you may want to DX 1230 for the immediate future to see what else you get. They are in the process of physically moving the transmitter a short distance (a thousand feet away at most) to where they built a new unipole antenna and tower. In Palm Coast I'm picking up Savannah Georgia pretty well (well, it's not burning the paint off my house, but...) with a second signal behind it, (Gainesville?). Just interesting information to pass along to the radio nerds / DXers out there. Have fun while it lasts. I don't think it'll be dark for very long.

Rocky,

I live near WSBB and at first thought the new tower was a cell tower and wondered why it was built so close to the AM stick on the north causeway. They are now back on the air today but listening to them at my home in Edgewater tonight it didn't sound full quieting as usual, perhaps they have not yet configured it to full power. The tower is definitely shorter, only 40.5 degrees compared to the 67.5 of the older tower per FCC info. Wonder if / when they plan to take the old tower down? In the past I have picked WSBB up as far away as Brunswick GA (daytime signal) so it will be interesting to see how well this new tower performs.

They're on the air, but working on things, at the new digs.
