1240 AM in reading

Wasn't WHUM located in the basement of the Hotel Lincoln in Reading? I remember visiting the station in the early 70's, and it was shockingly dumpy. Very worn down, with acoustic tile, 12' x 12', on the walls, and the mic in the main control, an RCA 77DX, suspended from the ceiling by a string, no boom. It would sway somewhat back and forth before the operator. The gracious PD was Mark ?????, who later landed at WIBG doing wekends.

After the Lincoln Hotel stay WHUM moved over So Front on the 3rd floor next to bankruptcy court!
And soon after changed over to WAGO ~ All Golden Oldies with CJ Taylor - Fatha Tom Plaskett - Steve Haage
Probably the best the signal ever served the market

I have been looking for Tom Plasket on the Where Are They Now Board for months with no luck. Does anyone know his whereabouts? And no, he doesn't owe me money! But I owe him a thank you.

the gracious PD of whom you speak would have been Mark Thomas....who also programmed WRAW at one time......and it WAS in the basement of the ( i believe) PENN LINCOLN HOTEL.......

at one time there was some interesting radio done there....."NIGHT MAYOR" a one way talk show ( couldn't hear the callers)

and the morning show as a great fella named Frank Mooney. later of WRFY..and his sidekick , at least early in the morning, was "professor Schnitzel"..........

have not been back to reading for eons......do the two hotels ( penn lincoln and the one across from it) still exist ???????

Re: 1240 AM in reading ~ Fatha Tom

Last things I have on Tom Plaskett - he was "boothing" @ QVC for awhile...doing some weekend/fill in Phila...and selling cars out in Wernersville. I just remembered Joe O'Donnell was the PD back in the AGO days...he went on to the record promo biz
