Now that is when WKDA had a "real" sound, well to us 40-45 year olds. Yes, it was short-lived, but there were more signals in on the Nashville Radio Dial in the 80's than in the 60's. I'm HAPPY somebody brought this to the table due to all that I read on these boards is the glory days of when WKDA was the bubble gum, Top 40 station of the late 50's and early 60's, until WMAK came into battle with them in the 60's.

All the song bits in the interview with Rivers all became Top 40 mainstream hits that you hear as Oldies on today on Mix 92.9, V-102.5 and Magic 1560. This is the dividing line between us 40-48 year old vs. today's 60's/early 70 year olds. The studio shots were great! I love that old McMartin Board and the ITC Cart machines, feeding that Gates BC-1T Transmitter. One problem with WKDA was that for some reason they had to drop from 1 KW to 250 watts at night, while other Class C (old class 1V) stations in the 80's got permission stay at 1 KW at night.

Of course, it's non-understandable [EDIT] WNVL these days and they have 1 KW day and night.
