1250/930 TO CARRY THE BALTIMORE O'S

And I used to board-op the O's on WEED back in the late 80s. Way too many sports have disappeared from regular radio because of BIG $$ has sent it to satellite or 100K stations in large markets and yet little do they realize it can be a station's biggest money maker.

Some of the longest nights of your young life were spent at WEED running baseball I'm sure...

Yes they were! I remember one night when we ran an O's game that started at like 10pm and went into extra innings, needless to say I got out of the station at 5:30am and we signed back (we actually were supposed to sign off at midnight) on at 6am! I thought to myself why not stay and just be there when the morning guy came in?!

Double J just reminded me of the night i was on the air at WEED around 1985, play began about 8:00, and didn't end till about 1:30 in the morning, yes, the nights Orioles baseball aired were fun. but tiring at times, and i admit they were the team to follow back then.

Yes they were tiring and when they were losing very boring! I started there around August of 1986, we may have passed at some point.

I don't know if we did or not, but since we are on the subject of WEED, whatever happened to Butch Pindell?, the last i heard he
worked for the Nash/Rocky Mount school system.

He's still in the area. I saw him a few years ago when he was on the morning show on Jammin 99.3. I can't remember what he is doing now though.

What was your air name when you were there?

My air name was Darrell Jackson and i worked at WEED from March 1983, when i started part-time on Sunday afternoons,
until August 1986, i went full-time in September of 1983, mainly did 6pm until 12 Midnight Weekdays.

I remember the name and I think there's a picture of you in the WEED ad that was in one of my class yearbooks. I started in mid to late August 1986. I did mostly weekends of various times, but mainly 12p-6p or 6p-midnight. I remember one time doing 12p-midnight shift because the person who was supposed to come in didn't.
