1260 com religião em português?

Just browsing the AM dial for a bit during a break in this morning's "Toucher & Rich" program, and now (8:14 am)....am listening to what sounds like religious programming in Portuguese on 1260.

So far.....no ID....legal or otherwise.

Anyone else hearing this? At least to me, anyway.....doesn't sound like pirates. Does Salem do any religious programming anywhere in the country in foreign languages?

Swell. Another dead preset.

On Facebook the guy who was doing their weekend movie talk show was saying he was moving to WEZE 590.Wondered if there would be other changes.@bostonradio tweeted to me about the format flip...

When I tuned in to hear the Hugh Hewitt show this morning instead I heard Portuguese music. I too am surprised. Where did the Salem network talk shows go? I called the GM of Salem Radio, Pat Ryan, this morning and left a message. Their home page still shows at 1260 the Buzz...but now buzzing in Portuguese.

RadioInsight:"WBIX Boston... has leased the station to “Nossa Rádio USA“.

The station targets Brazilian ex-pats with Portuguese language programming and had been heard in the Boston market on 1570 WMVX Methuen until early 2017. The station’s Conservative Talk brand had debuted in September 2015 and featured Salem’s syndicated lineup of Conservative Talkers including Mike Gallagher, Dennis Prager, and Michael Medved."
For a time, maybe brokered, they ran Kuhner's wife Grace Vuoto

So the only so-called conservative talk outlet left has a morning drive hosted by 2, 3 if you count the gay Trump deranged producer guy who's getting more and more mic time, Obama voters.

Well there is also the iHR syndie stuff on 1430 that will probably go to 1200.

@bostonradio tweet:
As of this morning, East Somerville-based ICGG(international Church of the Grace of God) is operating 1260 AM with Portuguese-language religious programming aimed at local Brazilian community. They already program 1570 in Methuen. 1570/1260 will air NE Revs games in Portuguese https://t.co/CClyK8OY0V

WROL 950 may pick up Praeger. They are to debut an FM translator at 100.3 in Feb...the spot pirate Big City moved to after WJIB debuted its simulcast on 101.3.

I am surprised Salem isn't doing more of this in other markets. I listen to a fair amount of conservative talk radio, and other than Mike Gallagher and Larry Elder, the Salem hosts put me to sleep. Dennis Prager is a smart guy, but I wouldn't recommend listening while driving. Michael Medved's grating, effeminate voice is just too much. Hugh Hewitt was better in the PM. In AM drive, to me, he often sounds tired, and off his game. Last year, Salem launched another "Answer" station in San Diego. Gallagher talked up the launch all during his show, and didn't get a single caller from San Diego. Ouch.

Salem did this once before in Boston. It put its conservative talk network on 1150, maybe about seven years ago. It didn't show a blip in the Boston ratings, so Salem switched the station to Spanish-language religion. It also did the same in San Francisco & Miami. Salem recently returned the format to San Francisco on a 50,000 watt AM station Salem acquired, for a second try. But I guess Boston's second attempt didn't fare any better than the first attempt.

It seems Salem is very committed to the Conservative Line Up, Hewitt, Gallagher, Prager, Medved, Elder and a few others. It's on in the other big market cities, as well as some medium markets such as Sarasota, Riverside CA and Greenville SC. But not in Boston or Miami.

Salem picked up some former Radio Disney stations. In addition to 1260 here, they got 1250 WPGP Pittsburgh (the former WTAE) and has their usual national voices plus area local Rose Tennant who had co hosted The War Room with Jim Quinn. She may get few or no calls but offers her own political takes.

Lot of hate there, fella.

Nope, just pointing out how both (or all 3, depending how you look at it) morning hosts on the so-called "conservative" talk station are Obama voters.
edit: I just looked up who the "gay guy" is; I've only heard him referred to as "snowflake" by the Obama voter who goes by "VB". His name is Jim Clerkin. Feel better?

Not especially......

What might be fueling your frustration is actually expecting there to be a viable conservative local radio show in Boston in the first place. Salt Lake City?....yeah....but BOSTON?? The days of Moe Lauzier bellowing on WRKO.....and before that, Fall River's WSAR..... are long since past. Even Howie Carr can't truly be considered a conservative. The late Jerry Williams would probably have classified him as a "muck-raker".

Also....why are you expending the energy to single-out "the gay guy" as "the gay guy"?

1570 has been Spanish for a few months. 1260 and 1570 are not simulcasting.

Have you heard their promos? They're the ones making that claim.

If I expended any energy it was to find out what the guy's name was.

In the interests of fairness....No.....I have not heard their promos.

But that's only because I've given up on most General Interest/Political talk radio a long time ago....except for the occasional sky-wave catch of Michael Savage from outside the area.

In truth....I find most talk radio....regardless of political stripe....has become very predictable. You pretty much can guess where a host or their callers will be coming from before even tuning in the broadcast.

If I'm listening to call-in talk....it'll most likely be sports-talk on 98.5.

The Buzz didn’t last too long. Only 2 and a half years.
