1. Having HD does not eliminate electrical interference (aka "static") from the analog signal. Forgive my surprise at your asking because I honestly thought you knew that already, James.
2. Saul will do what he wants, when he wants, and he has both an excellent program director and an equally excellent consultant. They have access to a ton of research and I am sure any additions or other changes to the playlist will come as they are needed and will be the right ones.

Ummm ... "skipping"? Please elaborate.
I'm used to that term meaning audio skipping, like when we played records. If something like that is happening, there must be a problem with either the automation computer or the link from the studios on Cotner to the 1260 transmitter site in Mission Hills.

From the clips I've heard, 1260 isn't actually transmitting an HD signal, anyway. Nor are they transmitting C-Quam, despite running IDs saying "1260 AM Stereo". It's just a plain mono analog signal.
When 1260 was classical, I was only able to catch them in HD in a very small area, usually from north of downtown LA along the 405 and 101 (and probably the 5 too) - generally it only locked in for a good five miles or so before it reverted to sounding like a standard AM mono. It sounded pretty cool when it was working though. The HD icon would flash for about 50 miles in each direction, indicating that my car radio was detecting something in HD, but could never get a lock on it until I had just passed through the downtown area.
It was k.m. but it's sounding clean now. Thanks anyway
I took a Walk to Walmart on Tuesday Morning about 6am in Carmichael, I was on 1260 listen to it for a whlie

i dont think you were hearing 1260 Los angeles in Carmichael with any kind of good signal
Umm Yes I was, I heard Go Country, other times in the PM it's KSFB San Francisco

There is no shortage of $$$$ for whatever Saul wants. No debt, decade after decade of decent profitability. He's enjoying this a lot, I am sure.
When I owned stations, I took one of my 5 FMs in my "home" market and did classical on it. I thought I would never make money, but it managed to bring in some. But I enjoyed doing it, and I picked all the music myself every day. Kind of a hobby within a business. I was not his age back then (I was about 23), but I understand how Saul might enjoy this.
"for whatever he wants" A curious disclaimer. Anyway, in that case he should give it some presentation, personality, image ... It sounds like a monotonous juke box done on the cheap.
When I earlier remarked "$$$$ Permitting", the upshot was that the owner still won't blow too much dough without an acceptable return.
Enjoy it while you can. It'll probably flip to something else within 6 months, based on the past history of 1260.
