1260-WBUD

From AllAccess.com

WBUD/Trenton Scales Back News Department
News anchors JOHN WEBER and ED SALVAS exit MILLENNIUM News/Oldies WBUD-A/TRENTON, NJ. PD ERIC JOHNSON dispells rumors of an impending format change, and tells ALL ACCESS that the station is simply "scaling back a bit, but our news commitment remains. We'll still be doing the 5a news block," which is hosted by MILLENNIUM VP/News ERIC SCOTT. In addition, KEN WRIGHT will continue to host "Mercer News Morning," and the station will continue to carry MILLENNIUM network newscasts.

ouch. John and Ed were true pros. i hope they land on their feet somewhere soon.
it's amazing, you go around to some of the ol' fashioned businesses in and Trenton, especially deli's and restuarants, and they all have WBUD on. see, music can work on AM even if it's through a computer.

Rumors Dispelled - NOT!

So they sack 'BUD's own local news people but they are still committed to news?
Right!
Any guesses what the new format will be?
Hint: It won't be music.

They've added music to the morning show, same stuff they play the rest of the day. I didn't hear too much of it but it seemed like they cut out some of the "non-core" news features like business and health reports.

It will be a satellite feed as soon as they can get it hooked up, 100% satellite. Most likely an ABC channel. Most likely within the next two weeks or so. The plans are for NO, ZERO, local people.

I certainly don't know if it's true or not. But I can't listen to WBUD for any length of time anymore... thanks to all that digital hash under the signal - at least at my listening post in Monmouth County. Meanwhile, what if it's true WBUD is going satellite? What if it's Scott Shannon's Oldies format? That would be interesting to hear - if all that noise under 1260's analog signal would go away!

That noise is from 1280 WADO in NYC transmitting IBOC, whose digital hash also trashes the signal of Trenton's 1300 WIMG (which otherwise has excellent audio for AM -- it's unusually crisp and hi-fi).

Gadzooks! That's a LOT of noise for a second-adjacent channel. This IBOC crap is no solution to anything. At it's going to do is chase people away from terrestial radio.
