1260's format shift

Can they go a week without shifting a show?

And I guess Dr. Drew is DOA, since they as the flagship won't even air it live any more. Is he actually on anywhere?

I've heard callers from other areas and if he was only on here they would have moved the whole show. It is annoying as they seem to have the second segment live and then replay the first hour after. I'm glad that we get an hour, at least of Ed Schulz since KTLK thinks that Thom Hartman is more relevant. Hartman is, I must say, an improvement over Al Franken who I always thought of as Rush without the charm. ;D

As for KGIL I'd have dropped Lou Dobbs and put Michael Jackson in the afternoon and had Lars on live st three to six. Savage wasn't missed here after he got axed at KRLA in favor of Dennis Miller, then again when KLAA shifted to sports. Maybe the next shift shuffle at AM 1260 will be the third strike for Weiner in LA. I do like Glenn Beck in the morning, I switch after Handel on the News so I miss one hour but Handel's show gets boring after 7am to me so I like the option. If I want deep analysis and a lecture there is always Dennis Prager on 870.

I think the shifts on 1260-540 were due to getting clearance for the shows. Remember that they started with a Larry King replay in the morning, Neal Boortz Michael, then Dr. Drew, Dobbs and a Jackson replay at 5. They probably had Beck in mind but had to get a cover in San Diego, XESURF has Stephanie Miller while Beck is only on 1260. KGIL is a work in progress, but I miss Boortz, I like his advocacy for "The Fair Tax".

Ed Schultz didn't do that well on KTLK. You can spin the books when he was on at night after losing noon-3, but the numbers weren't great. I wonder if there's more than meets the eye with that deal.

Yes, they want to clear shows, but why not just clear every show for an hour a day and have 24 different shows?

Savage is a nobody in LA and being on at 10pm will solidify that. Yikes - what a bad deal from his deals of being (partially) live on 870. How about a contest, "Guess When Savage Will Be On?"... 7am, 3pm, 10pm? After the songbook?!

I just meant that from an information viewpoint Schultz has value. It is not as entertaining as Stephanie but in this election cycle there is value to getting as much info from all sides. Something you won't get from the news coverage which is all fluff and glitz. So if KTLK pretends to be a progressive talker then he should have a home there. As for the book, does KTLK get that good in any slot and most people don't listen much after the afternoon drive period, even to music stations.

Which brings us to a good placement for Savage, anytime from 10pm until 5am when his main competition is George Noory.

I recall from my days in Cable when we had to run a public access show from Tom Metzger's group which the management had scheduled at 11 or midnight on Friday nights. I can admit it now, the statute of limitations has surely run out, ;D that during a rant on the Chinese I tweaked the TBC to make him and everyone on his show look a bit yellowish. Other times I just went for green.
