1280 WGBF to begin local talk show

... one day a week.

Thursday Mornings at 9am Les Shively will have a call-in talk show on 1280. Apparently Les is a local attorney and WGBF has secured four "title" sponsors.

When was the last time 1280 had a local talk show? Seems like its been 5 years or so.

When did 1280 drop their top 40 music format? Was it in the 80s or did they dump it in the 70s?

Until 1975 WGBF was an old line MOR. It was CHR from 1975 until 80/81 and evolved to AC. The AC format ended and the AOR simulcast with 103.1 began around 1986. 1280 split from AOR and changed the calls to WWOK and became standards around 1990. About 1996 music was dropped for sports and a return to WGBF. A few years later, whoever owned WGBF at the time established an LMA with talker WGAB and placed the talk elements on 1280.
