Read a tweet from Mike Hodge who was part of the morning crew and he made it seem the show got cancelled. So 1300 the Zone is all syndicated shows. I listen to some of the shows during the day, but an interesting business decision. The R&B show I listen too 103.1 KISS FM has done the same, all syndicated shows all the time, no local DJs.

Covid-19 has really hurt radio. Sports Talk gets lots of dollars from sports bars and such. They weren't advertising when the shutdown happened. Those that survived are ultra cautious right now as it appears more restrictions are on the way. Radio, no matter the format, is hurting badly. That means laying off staffs, who had likely been working remotely anyway, and opting for syndicated programming. Some stations have lost 80% of their revenue this year thanks to Covid

The KVET 103.1 translator is probably far more valuable than the AM facility.

The station basically serves to clear the national Fox Sports network in a significant and growing market. Without local major league teams, any local show would mostly consist of the "rah rah Longhorns, the other team stinks" crowd. Yawn.

With the exception of KLBJ 590, AM radio in Austin has fallen into total irrelevance.

I would love to see the breakdown of KLBJ's listenership between 590 and 99.7.

590 is by far the best AM facility in the market, but that's not saying much and 590 is terrible at night in large portions of Williamson County (including some of the fastest growing areas).

While a "single line reporting" combo may request a special report from Nielsen, that data is not routinely released even to subscribers.
