1310 AM Odessa Texas

Does anyone know if 1310 AM can be turned back on. I was wondering also if anyone knew whenit was shut off. I worked at KOYL in the early to mid 80's when it was county. I also rmemnber a Spanish statin at AM 1000 that was KJJT. I was jsut wondering what happened to these stations.

Although I can't remember exactly when it went off the air, I found that FCC records show that the license for KOYL was canceled back in 1992. I'm not sure when KJJT went off. Were those the last call letters you remember?

As for either of them coming back it's very doubtful. I can't recall anyone applying for either frequency in the Midland-Odessa area during the last AM filing window and if anyone did, the application(s) didn't make it through the first round. The next window may be years away, if it happens at all.

KJJT 1000 Odessa changed calls to KNDA in 1989 (still Spanish-language). It looks like the FCC canceled it in 1994.

Thanks for the info. I had a lot of fun times in radio then. I even worked for KGEE after the rumor that KOYL was changing formats. I worked for Frank Childs and Barry Sikes. I had heard that Frank passed away , but I am not sure what happened to Barry. both statins that I worked for there was a joy to work for , Great people. I need to throw Danny Ortiz and Ben Gillman in there as well.
