1310 Back on the Air as "Reggie Radio"

You'd expect a station with a name like "Reggie" to be a station with a reggae/variety hits format.

"We play anything, Mon... From Buju Banton to Eddy Grant... We're playing what we want, word is bond..." ;D

I'm hearing this is Reggie Gay's station now. Reggie has had success with WATC-TV 57 getting his tv show on there and I think his radio show had been airing on WIGO 1570. He's a cool guy who's been mentoring some of our graduates. I think he also understands how to make the cash register ring which is a skill not many wannabe station owners have.

Whether or not the format is for you, I bet it will be very local.

Reggie worked at WYZE for several years and has a following in the format. I'm told he's a hard worker and a good guy so he does have that going for him. Still.....he has a tough row to hoe with Praise offering a FM version of the format. But Jeff is right about the local emphasis - he was doing a remote from a bank this morning when I was listening. He also talked about a remote on Saturday morning. I hope he gets some traction from the hard work!

Reggie has a hard time following directions.Been fired from NEARLY every radio station in Atlanta over the past 20 years or so..

I do wish him well...but we really have too many Gospel music stations already. As long as he pays the bills he will stay on. The previous folks who had Progressive talk on it fell behind in paying the owner of the station and he shut the power off at the tranmitter.

I'd be surprised if this was more than an LMA...the current owner paid a cool 2+ million for it 6-7 years ago.

Is stick value still alive in the year 2011?

Reggie did become well known at WALR FM (Kiss 104.7/104.1). He also was fired from WAEC, WTJH, WAOK, WYZE, WALR AM for allowing his ego to get in the way..

Reggie is a nice guy,I was his local producer when he was on WGFS in Covington the early part of 2008, he wants everything to sound just right.
