I haeard a spot the other night on 1310 about the new year and time to "change underwear", etc.

Changes are coming, but I didn't catch the "when".<P ID="signature">______________

They should update their marketing too. I saw a sports brief on FOX4 about
Parcells that showed a Ticket remote, and their banner had 1310
along with "1700 AM" and "104.1 FM." Hmmmm...

This is the 6th highest billing station in Dallas. Hardly a cnadidate for a a format change. It is #2 25-54 men, and #1 35-44 men and 35-64 men.

What are the D/FW billing rankings?

WBAP, KKDA, KPLX, KLUV, KRLD, KTCK, KVIL, KSCS, KDMX, KHKS, KLTY. This is 2004. 2005 final numbers are not published. I think you can see a couple of stations which will have changed significantly in 2005. But, also, keep in mind that billing changes trail ratings changes by a half year at the least.

I understand that a one-min spot on Hal Jay's AM show on WBAP costs $2,000. Once upon a time, a 30-sec spot on KVIL during Chapman's show in the 1980s commanded $3,000.

But what did each bill?

Please post it, or just point us to a Web site that publishes this information.

It's not posted or published, as far as I know.

The reange is $27 to $19 million on the stations listed.

Back in the 80's stations programmed to listeners and served a community, not advertising agencies or CONsultants.

There is literally no change today. Stations look for an audience group to serve (if they do not "serve" a group, why would anyone listen?) and tried to make that group as large as possible. Then they priced ads appropriately for the audience size, and went out to sell to advertisers.

This model was true in 1925 or 1955 or 1985 or today.

Society and technology have changed, A station can no longer get 20 shares, a $1000 cash contest pales against $300 million dollar Super Lotto drawings, and the interest in "crazy DJs" has changed. Radio is more segmented, and, therefore, more targeted.

But stations that seved a large and defined listener group prosper. Those that do not switch format.

A :60 live spot by Hal Jay once per show can be had for less than $700 per spot on an annual contract. Ron Chapman's price never exceeded $800 during his tenure and was around $650 when he left.

During the Dunham and Miller with Gordo Morning Drive Show tomorrow 1-12-2006 during the 7 o'clock hour (from 6:50 break to 8:05 break) they are going commercial free. I wonder how that works out, they mentioned that thier clients/sponsors approved of this, and they also mentioned that they are not going to load down the rest of the show with spots to make up for the commercial free hour.
