Thanks GEDA for your answer. This helps a great deal with my research. Sad the new owners could not keep the same format it had for so long.

Radio Enciso's sale—it should be noted, the first in their 84 years of broadcasting—likely saved the station. The unionized employees were reportedly about to go on strike, and the new owners not only have studios and facilities of their own but also a noted leftist bent. (Hint: the owner of PSN is a longtime left politician in BC, ran for and won election to the Senate last year, and was tapped by AMLO to be the coordinator of federal programs in the state...and he's probably gonna run for governor this year.)

Add to that the fact that the XEC format barely showed up in the INRA ratings in Tijuana, and had little revenue.

Since 1935 when started, it always had a talk radio format with some music. Mostly, it hosted the format of public tribune, where social topics were talked with phone calls from the audience. This was a staple of the station for many years with hosts like Jorge Esparza Carlo and Felizardo Bojorquez. Like it already has been noted, since the 70's, Complacencias was another great show, a song-request show that was made famous by hosts like Jesus Femat Esparza and Ramon Bojorquez.

Another longtime staple was Horizontes, a talk and interview afternoon show with Gloria Enciso Power. On the weekends they had some political talk shows and mostly music like ballads and boleros.

On recent years, they branched out to a less traditional aproach like news broadcasts with lesser phone calls; broadcasting for some years La Taquilla from EXAFM in Mexico City; some news broadcasts in the evening from Radio Centro; showcasing El Show Del Camaleon a early evening show with humor and licensing time to evangelical radio at nights.

On the weekend, they broadcasted music from Mexico City radio group Nucleo Radio Mil. Right now, since the sell, it has gone to it's talk radio/public tribune roots, but as a repeater of 1030 AM with only a in-house morning show.
