1310

1310 is not Korean anymore and is branding itself as Atlanta's news and talk leader "The King"???? They are playing jazz right now.

And if you go to AtlantaRadioKorea.com, linked on the Wikipedia page, the frequency in the title (located on the top of the browser) is not 1310, but 1040. All this, while WPBC has an LMA with 1080, apparently...

Think maybe 1040 and 1080 could be gearing up for an east-west simulcast to replace 1310?

Maybe. But, if you check the Wiki story again, you just might conclude that 1310 is going to be turned into Radio MARTA - broadcasting to oppressed Koreans everywhere in Decatur. :D

Tom Hughes is returning to Atlanta radio? ;D :D :p ::)

1310's tower is actually in a MARTA parking lot at Sams Street off College Avenue.

It is also the most pathetic looking tower, maybe 75 feet or so, but it still puts out a pretty good signal.

Atlanta so needs another talk station -LOL It would, however, be nice if they actually took some initiative to do local programming, covering local issues.

Here's a link to a photo of the tower: http://www.fybush.com/sites/2005/site-050128.html

Bill Press, Stephanie Miller, Ed Schultz, Thom Hartmann ... liberal talk as of 8/30. It's a pretty weak signal in a lot of the ATL. However, it comes in clear as a bell in Decatur, which makes sense for the format.

The station was owned and run by a group that also publishes a Korean news paper up in Gwinnett county. Does anyone know if they are still running it or have they LMA'd it to someone else?

Here's the new "King" website:

... as well as an evening host named Leslie Marshall. Looks a lot like Gretchen Wilson - but I bet she doesn't share her views... :D

Ed Schultz was just saying that the signal's going to be pretty good...of course, I'm not sure he knows the caliber of signal quality here. earlier this week, I discovered http://www.zypradio.com/ which seems to broadcast on 1640 AM but I haven't been able to get a signal even downtown. Clicking the LISTEN LIVE link doesn't help me much..it's set up for Windows and I'm on a Mac at work.

Either way, we'll see what happens. Stephanie Miller's got good show...pretty funny.

Hey, it happens. Remember, Michael Smerconish once told his listeners how much of a blowtorch WGST was.

Actually WGST is stronger than SB during the day. I have carried it way past Bham on 1-20, to a few miles into Mississippi.

Go north of Canton on 575 and you will discover a “hole” in WGST’s daytime coverage. The best Atlanta AM daytime coverage up here is 680 or 750. I know 680’s COL is North Atlanta but since North Atlanta has been gobbled up by Atlanta, I call 680 an Atlanta station. The lousy ground conductivity kills all the AM’s. The terrain height challenges and Chattanooga stations challenge some Atlanta FM’s. WSKZ 106.5 Chattanooga sometimes will fool the scan and you miss 106.7. I am glad that somebody can carry WGST for a great distance. On paper 640 should farther than 750. I was beginning to wonder where WGST’s 50KW goes.

Atlanta Radio Korea may be moving to 1080 WPBC, but as we speak on Saturday afternoon of this weekend during the 4PM hour, Love 860 AM WAEC started playing either Korean, Japanese, or Mandarin. They must have started playing it during the 3PM half hour because I started listening during the 3:30 P.M. half hour. Unfortunately, it continued. Before they continued it, first they did the top of the hour station ID in English, then they did a short simulcast of their sister station Radio Vida 1100 AM WWWE in Spanish, and then they continued one of the 3 Asian languages I mentioned above. It's an unknown talk show. I'm currently working on the program schedule for WAEC. No, I don't work for them. The schedule is to help me determine the right times for me to tune in so I can avoid this Asian programming as well as the religious (genetically-altered Biblical) programming. To clear this up, religion is literally defined as a genetically-altered Bible. There may be different religions, but Christianity is a lifestyle and not a religion. Then there are various denominations that may be preaching genetically-altered Christianity. You will never catch me listening to that kind of programming. I would only be tuning in to the actual faith-based ministry Christian Talk programming that does not preach a genetically-altered Bible along with the rare black Urban Gospel music that is mixed in from time to time. I'll be keeping on listening until 8PM tonight which is when the Overcomer Ministry with Brother R.G. Stair comes on. For anyone else that wants to listen, you can listen online at http://www.love860.com/streamer/streamer.html. You may have it at a low quality stream. You can also listen online via the following URLs: http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/asx/WAECAM.asx and http://1521.live.streamtheworld.com:80/WAECAMCMP3. I apologize for this being a lengthy post. What I said earlier about the religions, Christianity, and various denominations, that is all I'm going to say about all of that. Thank you.

They just aired a commercial break in English. Now the Asian-language personality mentioned 1100 AM. In other words, the talk show could be in Spanish. BBGI (Beasley Broadcasting Group, Inc.) really needs to better program WAEC. It sounds like the talk show is called The TK Show not to be confused with football player T.K. Now they're playing music in the mystery language. Like at the top of the hour, it could be a simulcast with WWWE. It's not pretty; it's disappointing. :( ??? ::)
