1340 The Fan 3 Changes Call Letters

The Dickey Broadcasting Company outlet "1340 The Fan 3" changed its call letters from WALR to WIFN recently.

Since Dickey sold 104.7 to Salem and the WALR-FM "Kiss" intellectual property to Cox in 2000, the WALR callsign had been shared with Cox's 104.1. I suspect this has little to do with that...but with the possibility of a WIFN-FM coming to 100.5. (WIFN was on Cumulus' 105.5 Macon recently, as an ESPN station. That station now shares a format, moniker, and morning show with Atlanta's 100.5, which is tanking in the ratings).

I think you know where I am going. I suspect they are parking the callsign here until every "i" and "t" is dotted and crossed on the LMA/SSA/whatever will govern this move. This just speculation, but this move has "100.5 The Fan" written all over it.
