1350 Portmouth VA format change

Been listening. Enjoy the music. Hope they can improve the audio. 1310 WGH has good audio.
Used to listen to WAVY Radio 1350 when I was a kid.

I'd love to hear it... Do they stream?
They were also WKLX, WHNE, WNIS and WCVU...

WAVY was great. Think they were the first Top-40 in Tidewater. And, Willard Scott was a DJ. I'd love to hear any tape of WAVY...

I hope they put some time and a little bit of money into giving the format a try. 1350 has been off the air in the past. Willis stations do not have a good reputation in the business. I wish them much success.

Mike Deeson was their PD then, I think. He came over to WNOR in 1975 after Terry Jordan left.
First place I heard "Outa Space" was on 'KLX. As I recall, they were pretty compressed.

WKLX was mentioned this morning on WNIS. Tony Macrini did an hour radio reminisence with Dale Parsons. Good memories.

Looks like they are finally on the internet passion1350.com but I notice the broadcast station over the air sometimes has a huge hum and other times is off the air and then suddenly comes back on the air.

They have been missing at times in Elizabeth City. Today they were heard but weak. Actually get 1340 WMID Atlantic City, NJ and 1290 from Petersburg much better. Sounded like they were running 500 watts with bad audio. Enjoy the station, hope they can turn it around.

I remember when I lived in Va. Beach in 1974. You could hear WMID and WYRE just fine. On the sand, if conditions were just right, you could barely hear WAPE.

Agreed on 1350 making it.

The audio does not sound as loud as other over the air stations......bass and treble are good but lacks mid range and sounds a bit out of phase. I have noticed they have not unexpectedly gone off the air as much. There signal seems to splatter over to 1340 and 1360 more than normal. They play a wide range of soul music from Disco Duck to hip hop sounding music that I am not familar hearing.

Looks like WGPL has gone Black / Gospel music. I noticed this last week but wanted to check at various times to see if it was a special show or full time format switch. Seems to be full time Gospel now. I did notice at times they were playing more black blues music the past few weeks. Sorry to see the station switch but they were a good AM soul oldies station for almost two years!
