I do specifically remember Tom Leykis call out Gavin on his show for being a big baby. He even left a voicemail message to Gavin because he was preempted in Dallas without his knowledge. If I can find the audio I will present it.

As for lack of show prep I have no idea what they do to prepare each day. All I can say is, as a listener, I have yet to hear P&K run out of things to talk about in the three hours they must fill each day. And I find the refreshing spontaneity of the new show, which I assume arises from not scripting out every minute, something that was sorely missing from the latter days at KLLI and never present at the Bone. If they have alienated the likes of Russ Martin and Gavin Spittle to the point that neither will work with them in the future then I say "Good for them!" The absence of Russ and Gavin's influence has done nothing but improve the P&K show.

Who has ever said they didn't want to work with them? The only person from 105.3 I have ever heard anyone say they didn't want to work with was Russ Martin. P&K actually had damn good ratings even after Stern was long gone.

If Spittle's such a loser (and he didn't do KRLD or 105.3 any favors) he's somehow got the CBS people snowed. The market manager in Houston (Purdy?) spoke about him as if he were a radio God.

Nobody disputes the circumstances which led to P&K's arrival at KLLI. Whether that situation kept them on the air for eight years is a whole different argument.

As for an arguably incompetent Gavin having CBS management completely snowed I'd like to welcome you to your first day in corporate America.

Gavin, IIRC, came from the CBS cluster**** in Las Vegas. #33 to mkt #5 and now to mkt #6.

If you think about Kurt and Gavin side-by-side, there's one glaring similarity, and it's the one that keeps them both employed at CBS and keeps both upwardly mobile in their careers: They are company 'yes'-men. They don't buddy up to talent (even to Martin...remember how Martin reeled in Dave Siebert the same way on the show, and it was all for show) or to anyone who's not in management. Apparently re-dictating company objectives and edicts is the way to stay on board. It obviously has nothing to do with successes or ratings. Ask Nikki Nite. Ask Bret Michael.

REALLY? Watch last nights TV and you'll know what they're going to talk about. Fact is Gavin fought for them tooth and nail and saved their jobs by putting his own ass on the line multiple times. They fell into a good spot when times were good and made the most of it, but are now at the gloryhole of radio and will soon be on their knees at an AM radio station in North Dakota fighting for the first guest at the hole. I'd say they were no talent hacks, but then I would be disrespecting Ron and Don.

The only incompetent thing Gavin did was fight for Pugs and Kelly for so long. They could have been easily replaced and he would have suffered a lot less. Especially under Ongaro. Pugs and Kelly had good ratings when they had Stern and Russ as bookends. Especially with Stern because he ran over and they averaged doing a 3 1/2 hour show. They have no content. Hell, why do you think they're going after a PD who is Houston and a host who has been off the air since December? Any smart host/PD would tell them to move on and quit recognizing the past and giving them credence, but they can't. They have NO CONTENT! Challenging another host to a "cage match"? Are we in Tyler?
